In a November 30, 2005 speech at the Naval Academy (has anyone else noticed that Bush only speaks
at military bases and military colleges where the troops and cadets are ordered to applaud), W outlined his "new" Iraq
strategy which is not new at all. In fact, the White House admits it is not new because when they released the 36 page
document they noted that "this has always been the strategy" it has just never been written down in one place before.
Anyway, here is the plan.
1. No committment to any troop withdrawals. Whether we reduce troops is "wait and see." Sounds like the plan W
has been following all along.
2. We will not leave for years until the Iraqi's are ready. In other words, we are waiting for the "iraqization"
of the war. Sound likes the old policy or the "vietnamization" of the Vietnam war.
3. We will "stay the course" and the American people should have "patience." How many thousands of times has W
said this over the last three years?
There you have, the W strategy. No wonder it took three years for W to reduce it to paper.
